They are caused by different viruses. Although technically you could get a wart on your genitals that would not necessarily be genital warts.

I don’t think you can…the common wart that you would find on your skin is different than the type you find in your crotch…after all you can’t get genital warts on your hand!
although, if you have a wart on your hand and touch your foot, say, you can spread it…so perhaps you can spread it to your genitals, BUT it wouldn’t be genital warts…it would be a wart on your genitals. You would just have to have it removed like any other wart, but i don’t think it would be easily spread through sexual contact and it wouldnt cause outbreaks as genital warts would…it would be a single wart.

Well, you might as well go with what the web says because you are going to have half and half answers here too. These answers that say just yes or no don’t have facts to back their answers. Either way,if you have a wart anywhere it should be removed.

if you can get them on your hand you can get them anywhere you have skin

Genital warts are not the same as warts on your genitals. The types of virus that cause these two warts are not the same. You CAN get warts on your genitals if you rub your plantar’s wart on your genitals, but you cannot get GENITAL WARTS from a plantar’s wart, for example.

Genital warts is an STD, caused by a virus present in bodily fluids. You’re not going to get it from a wart on your hand. You can buy over-the-counter stuff to get rid of the wart, if it’s bothering you that much.

All warts, no matter where they are on your body, are all caused by the same virus, HPV. So yes, if you have a wart on your hand, you can get it on your genital area, but not by contact.

Everyone is half right, and half wrong. A wart comes from a virus. You can spread viruses. If you have a wart on your finger, and touch your genitals, you can get a wart down there. However, that wart is not the same as genital warts. Genital warts come from a different virus called papilloma .

genital warts are caused by a virus called HPV and is only transmitted by sexual contact. So the answer is NO. The wart on your hand is a different kind o wart!

  13. No, genital warts is caused by HPV and plantars warts are caused by a different virus…http://www.healthandhpv.com
