Can I Find Out If The Hpv Strain I Have Is Likely To Cause Cancer?
Your OBGYN can tell you what kind of kinds of HPV you have.
Types 16 and 18 are known to cause about 70% of cervical cancer cases. But there are many different kinds that can actually cause cervical cancer. 15 kinds of HPV are classified as high-risk types (16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 68, 73, and 82), 3 as probable high-risk (26, 53, and 66), and 12 as low-risk (6, 11, 40, 42, 43, 44, 54, 61, 70, 72, and 81).
Take care!

if you had an HPV test that was positive, then you have a high risk HPV that could possibly cause cancer. There are no testing available for the low risk hpv ,the test is only for the high risk strains.
If however, you have warts, you should ask for a high risk HPV test to see if you have it or not. But remember, lots of people are walking around with high risk HPV and very few of them will get actual CANCER from it. That is relatively uncommon given the number of people with HPV. Too many people who have HPV related cervical dysplasia think that they have had cancer, but that is just not true
