Do they do a PAP smear? Or is it like some other STDs that show up in blood or urine?

They can only tell if you have HPV if you show symptoms such as genital warts or an abnormal pap smear. However, I think they might have developed a test for women recently. They can’t detect it in men unless they have visible warts. It does not show up in blood and urine because it is purely a skin virus.
if its non wart related they do a dna test off of your pap smear.
I think there is this new test that should be taken with a Pap smear to check to see if you have HPV.
If you have no visible warts on the out side of your genitals then they will have to do a pap smear. Then the results will come back that you have an “abnormal pap” Then u have to go in and do further tests, then if you do have HPV they will have to remove the “abnormal cells ” off of your cervix. It wont show up in urine, but it could possibly show up in blood. there are many different types of HPV, but a papsmear is a sure way to detect which one.
a friend of mine was just diagnosed with hpv. she had a pap smear done and based upon the pathology that is how it was found. she never knew about it since she was not displaying any symptoms but luckily, thanks to her yrly visit to the gyn, it was caught and will be treated accordingly.
